This guy is rad, I saw him play with Mat. Mchugh last year and he was so honest and hilarious. It sucks how small local musicians don’t get the recognition they deserve solely because they aren’t fitting the mold that is trending right now. They get lost amongst all of the other bands who are just the same as the other ones with ambiguous names and tight jeans. Dom Miller is cool and I am a big ol’ fan.

Rapture by James Roper
Says James about the Rapture series: “This is explicitly symbolised in the Rapture series by the use of porn stars as the vehicle for the expression of this ‘spiritual’ emotion, the shedding of carnal bodies giving way to an abstract purity beneath. The idea of release from the material to the spiritual is apparent in many religions as if there were a divine soul trapped in our earthly bodies, this is analogous to contemporary imagery found in comic books specifically the way in which Clark Kent, a normal man, sheds his clothes to become a Superman”. These vegetated surfaces don’t just look pretty. They have other benefits as well, including cooling city blocks, reducing loud noises, and improving a building’s energy efficiency. What’s more, a recent modeling study shows that green walls can potentially reduce large amounts of air pollution in what’s called a “street canyon,” or the corridor between tall buildings.
For the study, Thomas Pugh, a biogeochemist at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology in Germany, and his colleagues created a computer model of a green wall with generic vegetation in a Western European city. Then they recorded chemical reactions based on a variety of factors, such as wind speed and building placement.
The simulation revealed a clear pattern: A green wall in a street canyon trapped or absorbed large amounts of nitrogen dioxide and particulate matter—both pollutants harmful to people, said Pugh. Compared with reducing emissions from cars, little attention has been focused on how to trap or take up more of the pollutants, added Pugh, whose study was published last year in the journal Environmental Science & Technology.
That’s why the green-wall study is “putting forward an alternative solution that might allow [governments] to improve air quality in these problem hot spots,” he said.Compared with reducing emissions from cars, little attention has been focused on how to trap or take up more of the pollutants, added Pugh, whose study was published last year in the journal Environmental Science & Technology.

Today is the day where all I want in the world is a hug from my mum or just someone who has empathy and tells me it’s okay to cry. Nothing is worse than when you want to cry.. or are crying and are told not to cry. The people who say these things annoy the shit out of me. We are human, we respond spontaneously to events, and hearing that your best and oldest friends baby son passed away is a fucking great time to cry. I just feel very alone right now and want a big soft hug and a warm heart.

So I know I shouldn’t judge, nor am I any any position to judge, however I am doing such a thing right now.
There are two girls doing a presentation on the straightedge subculture in my sociology of youth culture class. This class is a second year university class and I can’t help but think that this presentation is severely lacking the knowledge and professionalism for university level. The language they are using is nowhere near the level that would be expected of a university student. The research is completely subpar and a majority of it comes from Wikipedia and not much wider research… I know this because I did a mock presentation on the same subject in class with 20 minutes of research all drawn from Wikipedia.
All in all I am being an academic elitist (even though I’m not particularly a highly successful student), but I just find this is overall not very good.Rant over.

Frozen Explosions by Alan Sailer
We’ve talked about Alan Sailer’s penchant for destruction before, remember, we were having that conversation and you said how rad my beard looked and I was like: “whoa whoa whoa, there are cooler things in life, like Alan Sailer’s exploding still life so get with it”, but thanks for the compliment on my beard, you. Ever since then, Alan has continued to shatter, destroy, disassemble, and annihilate normal every day items, toys that were asking for it, and foodstuffs not worth eating, but with flare! After all, what’s the point of wanton destruction if all it produces is a mess.
